Camping in the Rain

Although not always ideal, getting rained out on a camping trip or hiking adventure can sometimes happen. Don’t let a little rain damper your experience! It’s important that you always plan accordingly and pack for the worst. It’s better to have the gear than to run into a situation where you didn’t pack enough. In addition to packing your standard camping tent, camp blanket (wool blanket), lantern, and sleeping bag, be sure to always pack a tarp and foldable rain gear. You’ll be glad you did. For more information click here. Quality Wool Blankets
Location
1.      When in doubt, always look for areas with higher elevation. Valleys are usually wet and damp, which can be an invitation for mosquitos and an uncomfortable night of sleep. Remember…”High and Dry”. For more information click here Heavy Wool Blanket

Tarp
1.      Tarps are must-haves. Not only are they lightweight and easy to pack, but they serve as a makeshift cover and picnic blanket. Don’t leave home without one. You can usually find one at your local hardware store and they are inexpensive. For more information click here  Black And White Checkered Blanket

Garbage Bags
1.      These are great for packing your backpack items in and then putting into your pack. Garbage bags serve as an extra type of rain protection for your valuables and can double as rain gear, if you need to get creative. For more information click here Wool Blankets For Sale

Layers
It’s important to pack and wear layers and invest in outdoor clothing that is protective.  No matter the weather, we always pack our compactable down jackets, rain gear, wool socks, and warm wool blankets. The weather can turn on an instant and it’s better to be safe than sorry! As a wool blanket company, we see the value and impact that merino wool has in camping and outdoor gear. A merino wool blanket is both insulating and can adjust with one’s body temperatures. A good camp blanket not only services as a picnic blanket, but it’s an excellent additional layer in the tent! At 66 inches by 90 inches, there’s enough for two under there!

2.      Research your location
If you’re setting off for a destination unknown, be sure to do your research ahead of time. Where will you camp? Are there facilities nearby? What types of animals and insects live in that environment? What will the weather be? Although we love a good “no agenda adventure”, don’t go into the trip blindly. 3.      Don’t arrive late
Although it can happen, it’s best to avoid arriving late to a campsite. Not only can this be disturbing to the wildlife and fellow campers, but it can also potentially be unsafe. How to Stay Warm in an Airstream

Owning an Airstream has long been a dream of ours. We often see families and couples living “the Airstream life” and it seems so adventurous! The open road with no agenda is our kind of life. Like anything else, there are pros and cons to this type of lifestyle.  For more information click here. Wool camp blanket

As a wool blanket company, we have found that our customers range from homeowners, avid campers, and road trippers. Our warm wool blankets have been featured in popular blog sites and it’s safe to say that our wool blankets have seen a significant part of the country! Considering getting an Airstream of your own? Well then grab your best wool blanket and read up to hear our tips on staying warm in an Airstream. For more information click here. Camping Blanket

Layers
Let’s face it, it’s no fun when you’re cold. Its uncomfortable and can totally throw off any adventure. That’s why it’s important to invest in good, quality gear that can beat the elements and is designed to last. Several years ago, we purchased the essentials. We paid the premium but the gear has lasted us through countless camping trips, hiking adventures, and more. It’s worth it in the long run to have gear that will last. When we got stuck at the Canadian/Montana border in our car in the middle of a snowstorm, we were happy to have the right stuff packed. For more information click here.  sheep blanket

Insulation
Rugs can make a huge difference in an airstream. This adds insulation and can make those early morning steps not so alarmingly cold on the toes.

This one is a given. Investing in a quality wool blankets is essential for the Airstream life. Not only can you use this inside and outside, but a sheep wool blanket is temperature regulating—meaning it’s good for both hot and cold temperatures. It’s also easy to shake out a wool blanket. We never recommend putting wool in the washing machine, otherwise it can damage the wool fibers. Merino wool is an excellent and versatile textile to use both in the home and at the campsite.

Heat the Pipes
Be sure to run the faucets and get the warmth moving. There’s nothing worse than frozen pipes. For more information click here. hammock camping gear

Have Backup Heating Sources
Always be prepared. Be sure that you have firewood and matches on hand, in the event that your heating source goes out.

Camping in Badlands National Park

Have you been on the prowl for some awesome camping in South Dakota?  Look no further than the Badlands National Park. The Badlands host dramatic landscaping which spans across layered rock formations, steep canyons, and massive spires. You’ll feel as though you’ve stepped back in time as animals such as bison, bighorn sheep, and prairie dogs roam the open grasslands throughout. Ancient fossils suggest that animals such as the saber-toothed cat once roamed the plains. As you head across highway 240 through the Badlands you’ll be tempted to stop at each scenic overlook and gaze across the countryside. Don’t forget to bring the binoculars! For more information click here. plaid wool blanket & striped wool blanket
If you’re a first timer to the Badlands, you’ll most likely want to do front country camping at either of the two campgrounds inside the park, Cedar Pass Campground or Sage Creek Campground.  Unfortunately, no campfires are allowed but you can bring your own grills and camp stoves.  The weather across these great plains will have you seeing sunshine one minute and cold, windy weather the next.  We recommend you keep a few Woolly Mammoth Woolen Company Explorer Collection wool blankets nearby.  The solid  Gray Wool Blankets and solid green wool blankets will help protect you from the cold.  The dense weave and natural characteristics of the wool fibers help retain body heat yet allow your body to breathe.  As you wander off from either of these great campgrounds you can access all the great trails and natural beauty that is abundant in the park. For more information click here.  washing wool blanket & wholesale blankets

For your next adventure to the Badlands National Park, try out some backcountry camping.  With over 244,000 acres of parkland, you’ll be sure to find that perfect place to pitch your tent and find peace and tranquility. For more information click here.  teal blanket & fireproof blanket
